My newborn sessions take place in your home so you can relax in the comfort of your own surroundings. I use soft and flattering natural light to capture the visual story of your baby's earliest days. My style is unposed so there is no need for your baby to be a specific number of days old when you have the shoot.
Your session will flow organically, providing you with an opportunity to slow down time with your new arrival. Lead - and inspired - by your baby, I'll work around feeds, nappy changes and when they just need to be held and comforted. I'll freeze time on these 'in-between' moments and capture beautiful portraits of your new baby and the whole family together.
- with love, jess
You've waited nine months (possibly a lot longer) for this moment. Together, we can make it last forever. My newborn photo shoots savour the tiny details of your new joy and capture everyday moments so often forgotten in the haze of becoming a new parent. I'll document your greatest love story; natural portraits of your baby and the treasured bonds that tie your new family. I'll provide space for you to be yourselves and help you create genuine happy memories - all the while capturing them honestly and beautifully.
I cannot wait to meet you.

"You made us feel so relaxed and comfortable - it was like you weren't even there but at the same time like we'd known you for years which just made us feel ourselves and really enjoy the precious moments with the boys."
My gentle approach is based by my own experience of early motherhood, coupled with 12 years refining my craft as a newborn storyteller. Every photographer has a certain 'style' so how do you know if mine is for you? Well, if you hate the idea of posing with forced smiles to get the 'perfect' shot - we already have something in common. I'm inspired by magical, once-in-a-lifetime, moments. I find them in miniature fingers wrapped around yours, how your baby gazes into your eyes as they feed, milk-drunk slumbers, moments of nurture and bedtime cuddles.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
At times, I’ll give some gentle direction and prompts but I’ll also provide space in these moments for you to be yourselves - it is here were the most beautiful and meaningful memories unfold.
Simply put, I combine a mix of newborn documentary, lifestyle and classic portraiture to capture the story of your new baby's life - using beautiful, natural, light as my artists' tool-kit.
I love photographing new babies of all ages and I'm very flexible as to when the shoot takes place. If you long to capture your baby while they still have that fresh "newborn look", you might want to schedule the session for 5 to 14 days after your baby's due date. At this age you can expect your baby to sleep (and feed) for a good part of the session. This is just one of the reasons why I love to document these hazy, early days of parenthood so much.
If you'd rather give yourself a little more time to settle into new life as a family, then there is no need to rush things. As the days and weeks unfold your baby will become more alert and awake for longer periods; allowing me to capture more connection and maybe even a few smiles. Whatever you baby's age, my promise is to create a wealth of beautiful and meaningful memories.

The perfect photo for me isn’t of you all looking at the camera with forced smiles, it’s in a tangle of arms and giggles; in the joyful messiness of real life and love. I combine family documentary, lifestyle and classic portraiture to tell the story of who you all are - right now - with a beautiful light and airy aesthetic.
To put you at ease and document your family in the most honest way, I let my sessions flow organically, always being led by your baby. As a mother, I know how important it is to be patient and calm as a newborn is fed and comforted, or as a toddler slowly sheds her camera shyness. Occasionally, I’ll give some gentle direction to make sure everyone is in the best light and fully at ease, but I’ll also give time to let you all just be yourselves in order to capture spontaneous and meaningful memories as they unfold.
I offer a bespoke experience for all my families; every single shoot is unique - just as every family is. For newborn sessions, I charge a fee of £245. This covers the photo-taking time on the day and also some time in the weeks leading up to your shoot preparing: getting to know you via a consultation and ensuring space in my diary should your baby arrive earlier or later than expected. It also includes my time and artistry to create a gallery of beautiful images that tell the story of a morning in the life of your family. I will work in a digital dark room to enhance each photograph to the very best professional quality: working on colours, black and whites and any re-touching, if required.
The session fee does not include any of the photographs, printed or as digital copies. You have the freedom to choose from a selection of products and collections. I do not have a minimum spend but as a guide, most of my clients invest a further £750 - £3,000, on a range of beautiful, heirloom-quality, printed and digital products. For further details of my product pricing please order an e-brochure.
I take on a limited amount of sessions each month so that I can provide the highest level of service to my clients. For newborn shoots, I recommend booking your session after your 20 week scan. This may sound early but it will guarantee my availability for when your baby does arrive.
When you book, we’ll pencil in a date (usually 5 - 10 days after your due date) which can be moved if your baby is born earlier or later than expected, or if you need more time to recover. I am very flexible so if you feel you need more time to settle into new life as a family, that is more than fine.
If you recently had a baby and have only just thought about having photographs, then please feel free to get in touch. I may have space for you if I’ve had to move a date for another family.
I love photographing new babies of all ages and I'm very flexible as to when the shoot takes place. My newborn session fee covers all new arrivals from birth up until 12 weeks. If you long to capture your baby while they still have that fresh "newborn look", you might want to schedule the session for 5 to 10 days after your due date. If you'd rather give yourself a little more time to settle into new life as a family, then that is absolutely fine too. If your home doesn't look like it belongs in the pages of an interiors magazine then please do not let it put you off having an in-home photo shoot. Over the last ten years, I have photographed families in homes of all shapes, sizes and styles of decor - including small basement apartments. I can craft beautiful stories in any home and lighting condition as I believe there is beauty and light everywhere if you look for it. Your home is your safe place and the foundations of your children's memories, so it's the most natural setting for your newborn photo shoot.
If you want a real documentary feel to your images then let's roll with the chaos that is parenting a new baby - it all adds layers and texture to the story and will make them all the more meaningful as the years go by. If you prefer to have things 'just so', or somewhere in the middle (like me), then feel free to clear some surfaces before my arrival or even as we go.
Your personal style is who you are so please dress for the photo shoot in a way you feel most comfortable. It's important to look back at the photographs and see you and your children as you actually were all those years ago, rather than people dressed up for the occasion.
If you do want the photographs to have a harmonious aesthetic, you might want to consider the colours and shades of your family's clothes and how they work with the backgrounds we are shooting against. A good and simple rule is to coordinate but not match. For young babies, I prefer simple items like vests but for toddlers and older children, feel free to play around with patterns, layers and accessories. You might also want to avoid brand logos and large slogans which can be distracting.
Most of my newborn photo shoots last about 2 hours, and this includes any time needed to feed and change your baby. However, you won't find me watching the clock and I will only finish when I have fully captured everything we set out to. If we need more time because your baby is unsettled for any reason, or is particularly hungry that day, then please do not worry. It is my utmost priority that you and your baby are happy, so I will follow their cues entirely. Having worked with new babies for the last 10 years and as a mother myself, I have certainly learnt the art of patience.

frequently asked questions
Pregnancy is such a special season in a couple's life and I love spending time with pregnant women (and their partners) to help them document this time. As with all my work, the process is very organic and natural in order to create meaningful yet beautiful images. I recommend booking a maternity shoot after your 20-week scan for when you are 30-36 weeks pregnant.
It's been such a joyful and positive experience and we are so happy with the end results - amazing pictures that truly capture this special time in our life.
We will treasure them forever!
