This family first contacted me a few days before their baby was due and I was happy to squeeze them into my diary 4 weeks later. During this time the family had time to adapt to their new routine and get to know each other a little better. One of the main reasons I love to photograph new babies who are a little older is that I find they are a little more engaged with the world and people around them. Rather than all sleepy shots I’m also able to capture baby portraits with beautiful bright eyes. You can read more about my thoughts on when is the best time to photograph newborn babies here.
While some newborn photographers prefer to offer sessions for babies within the first 2 weeks of being born, I’m happy to say my approach is a little more flexible. I promise to capture the same natural and emotive images however many weeks or months old your new baby is. Photographs that will send your heart racing back to the time when you could hold your little one in a single arm as they slept against your chest.
This newborn photo shoot took place in the family’s beautiful home in Stoke Newington in London. As you can see from the photos below, the shoot was very relaxed and organic. I loved telling the story of this little one’s earliest days and I know when she looks back at them in the future she will see the love her parents had for her.
