What could be more magical than an autumn family photo shoot in beautiful Richmond Park? 

This wonderful family got in touch with me to book a family session in November, which is the perfect month for an autumn family photo shoot.

You are guaranteed there will be lots of crunchy leaves (perfect for the little ones to play in) and a kaleidoscope of natural earthy tones, which will look great in photographs (and on your walls).

I knew from my pre-session call with Mum, that her bubbly, energetic, 3 year old loves being in nature, making mud-pies and all sorts of imaginary games. Her littlest (10-months old) is a little go-getter who was just learning how to walk – knowing this I laced up my boots and joined the family for a lovely adventure in Richmond Park.

What I love most about autumn family photo shoots

The beauty of an autumn family photo shoot in Richmond Park is that there are endless opportunities to just relax and have fun, while enjoying playful activities like leaf throwing or an impromptu tickle session on a cosy blanket. 

I really wanted to capture some intimate moments between Mum and her boys, as she had mentioned that she doesn’t have a lot of photographs with her sons. There are so many wonderful moments of her chasing them around the park, and even a couple of sneaky ones where she managed to slow them down just long enough to enjoy a warm little cuddle.

There are also lots of lovely ones with dad too – as he threw them up into the air and carried his littlest on his shoulders. 

Although Dads can often be reluctant to be in photographs, I always find that they really end up enjoying themselves on the day as they have the rare opportunity to disconnect from the busyness of life and work and just be truly in the moment.
