There’s something so special about photographing families in their own space, especially in those final weeks before welcoming a new baby. Recently, I spent a peaceful morning with a wonderful family in Islington, capturing the quiet (and not-so-quiet!) moments as they awaited the arrival of their baby boy.
Their home was filled with warmth and anticipation, with their toddler daughter bringing bursts of laughter and energy to the morning. I simply followed their rhythm – no stiff poses, no forced moments, just the natural flow of family life. One of my favourite images from the session was of the mother in a stunning burnt-orange dress reminding me of a Pre-Raphaelite painting -timeless, rich, and full of quiet strength.
This is why I love photographing families at home. There’s a beauty in the everyday and the in-between moments that say so much. Every family moves to its own rhythm, and I let that guide my work, creating images that feel deeply personal and true to who they are.
If you’re expecting a new arrival and want to remember these fleeting moments in the comfort of your own home, I’d love to capture them for you.
