Over the 14 years I’ve been a family photographer I have had the joy to meet many wonderful, loving families from across London and Surrey. I’ve also had the pleasure of working with families who are visiting the city on vacation from all parts of the world. It’s always exciting to meet these families as I love showing off my favourite parts of London.
This family from the U.S. where in London over the Christmas and New Year holidays and had fallen in love with leafy Richmond on a previous visit to the U.K. They wanted to celebrate their son’s first trip to London and asked me to join them so I could capture some relaxed and natural family moments of their time exploring Richmond.
I suggested we meet up on Richmond Hill for the famous view of The Thames. It was the perfect little spot with the, the Roebuck Pub, in the background. It wasn’t long until their almost one-year-old was full of smiles and after some gentle direction (where I encourage everyone to play rather than pose). We headed off down the hill and along the river towards Richmond Bridge – another famous landmark that makes Richmond-upon-Thames one of the most beautiful boroughs in London.
I love how, even with wind and rain on a cold winter’s day, these photographs are so full of warmth and romance. A testament to the special bond and love that this family have for each other. If you are looking for vacation photos where everyone is staring awkwardly at the camera in front of famous London landmarks then I might not be the photographer for you. If however, you are looking to capture real family moments then I’m here for you – wherever in the world you are coming from. You can get in touch here.
